Course Scheduling Process for the 2022-2023 School Year

QMS Families – It’s time for your child to prepare to select courses for the next school year.  This process will take place over the next two weeks, so please review this information carefully and encourage your child to review the information and ask questions over the next couple of weeks as we present the options.  Here is a link to our website with all of the information you will need to make informed decisions:  QMS Scheduling Information for the 2022-2023 School Year.  We will continue to use our Curriculum Fair Website as our course information hub, to allow you quick access to all the tools you will need to understand our course offerings, course pathways, and the course selection process.  There are recorded presentations to help parents understand course offerings and pathways for each grade level, in addition to slide show presentations and information from our teachers.  We encourage you to review the recorded presentations and slide shows in the coming week.

Week of January 10thThis week, students will learn about course offerings for next year during their Advisory class.  Recorded presentations and slideshows, along with other tools and resources will be shared with students this week, to help them learn about their options.  On Wednesday afternoon, 6th and 7th grade students will have an opportunity to dive more into elective offerings while using our curriculum fair website and interacting with elective teachers through Teams meetings.  Additionally, our 8th graders will have an opportunity to participate in virtual question/answer sessions with high school counselors from Freeman, Godwin, and Tucker high schools.  On Thursday evening, we will host an in-person Curriculum Fair Event for rising 6th grade families from 6:00-7:00 PM, to provide an opportunity to visit our building and ask questions of our teachers about our course offerings.

Week of January 17thThe course selection window will take place this week.  Students will get assistance through their Advisory class in selecting courses in PowerSchool. You will be able to work with your child in PowerSchool to select courses and make changes through January 23rd.  The window for course selection will close on Sunday, January 23rd.  Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teachers for questions about their recommendations.  Additionally, school counselors are available to help you and your child navigate this very important process.
