"She is always there for students, offering unwavering support both academically and emotionally. Her approachable nature, dedication to the school community and genuine care for each student make her a well-loved figure. She will step in to teach Spanish classes, chaperone a school dance, snap pictures on a school spirit day or attend a PTA board meeting. Her approachable demeanor makes her a favorite among the kids, teachers and parents, who all know they can turn to her with any concern, big or small.
"Since my daughter arrived at QMS, Mrs. Knighton has been a confidant and mentor, consistently showing herself to be a reliable and caring adult — something every middle schooler needs. Even though she isn't my daughter’s assigned assistant principal, Mrs. Knighton made herself available, attending her basketball games, sending me a picture on the last day of school, giving her a place to go or a person to reach out to, which bolstered her confidence and feeling of belonging."
Nominator Dominic Walker said:
"She deserves a 'Yay of the Day' because she helps around the school and helps students who don’t speak English. A specific example of a time she made a positive impact is when two students had a conflict, she helped them solve it and made sure they didn’t have any more problems. She’s very friendly, very nice and open hearted."
Thank you for all you do, Joy Knighton, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
